This is a great tour that gives you close encounters with the wildlife population of the region. All the big five (lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo and rhinos) are here along with many other mammals and bird-life in this Masai Mara plain. The annual migration, which is known as the “seventh wonder of the world” happens in this jungle every year between July to November. You are invited to enjoy this great experience.
You will be picked up from the airport, or Nairobi hotel before you transferred to our office. You will meet the group and later depart for the Maasai Mara Game Reserve between 0830am and 0845am, via the viewpoint of the western Great Rift Valley and Narok town for lunch and refueling. Our journey will deepen into the Maasai plains before bringing you to your arrival check in at your lodge or camp. We will start the first introduction game drive in the afternoon, tracking the various animal species and birds that inhabit here with your driver guide until sunset. Dinner and overnight provided.
Our days starts with breakfast at the camp and by 0800am we will leave with picnic lunches in hand for an extensive game drive. The landscape here is scenic savanna grassland on rolling hills. This reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network that allows for close range viewing and photography. Your game drive will include a visit to the Mara River, which is a point of migration and a place to spot crocodiles and hippopotamus and break for a picnic. Your game drive will continue till 1700hrs, after which you will get out of the park for two hours of optional activities. Dinner and overnight provided.
Visit to a Maasai Village
An optional visit to a Masai village can also be arranged. Maasai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. This visit gives a good tour of Maasai culture and you will be welcomed with a sing and dance presentation, which forms part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is one of the most memorable experience to take with you.
Wake up early in the morning for a pre-breakfast game drive to track the wildcats as they hunt and kill their prey. If you are lucky you will witness a hunt and a kill! At 0930am we will return to the lodge/camp for a full breakfast. We will later depart the Mara region for Nairobi arriving in the mid-afternoon. Your drop off will be at your choice of either a hotel or the airport.
